Meet Our Shepherds

Gene Adams

My family moved here from McKinney in 1971. My parents Ann and Odie Adams were members here for 30 years. I married Kim (Dunlap) in 1982. Her family has attended here for over 50 years. We have a daughter Candace, who is a supervisor in Medical Records at Methodist Central Hospital. I have four sisters: Barbara Truesdale, Brenda Dill, Wanda Adams, and Becky Kirby. I am blessed to have several family members who attend here. Among them are my sister Wanda Adams, my brothers and sisters-in-law Tim & Amelia Dunlap and George Chappell, and my nieces and their husbands Amy & Pete Amaro and Tiffany & Stephen and their family.

I now work as the Facilities Manager here at the GracePlace. M wife is a retired school teacher, who taught special education for 28 years.

I have been a deacon in the past. I have been on many mission trips, and now serve as Communion Coordinator, Life Group co-teacher, and co-teacher for the Sixth Grade.

I am privileged to serve as an elder at the congregation that has been my home for all these years.

David Carson

David & Cheryl are born Texans and have lived in Duncanville since 1985. They have 2 sons & 2 daughters-in-law, 1 daughter & son-in-law, and 1 grandson. David works in sales and Cheryl is a retired bookkeeper. Their hobbies are gardening and grandparenting! David & Cheryl have been members since 1985.

Stan Dacus

I was born in Dallas. I graduated from Duncanville High School and attended Oklahoma Christian College for two years on a basketball scholarship, and then finished at UTA in 1978 with a degree to coach and teach math. I have worked in construction materials since graduation, and presently with Lehigh Hanson as VP Sales for North Texas.

I married Bridget Amyx (high school sweetheart from DeSoto shortly after graduating). We have two children: son Clint born in 1981 and daughter Cara born in 1985. Clint is a chiropractor, and married to Shauna McClure Dacus, who is a physical therapist. They have two young sons Daxon and Sullivan. Cara has a degree in fashion design and is working in retail sales in Dallas. Bridget and I have raised our children here, while serving in various capacities as a deacon and with the youth committees, as well as teaching classes at various levels.

I find it an honor to serve this body of believers in Christ for the sake of our Lord. This church is my home and family. May God bless our service to Him.

Grover Davis

I grew up in Oak Cliff attending Saner Avenue Church of Christ, where my father was a deacon and elder. I served as a deacon and treasurer of the congregation until we moved to the South MacArthur Church of Christ in Irving to become involved with the deaf congregation and to learn sign language for our daughter. We moved in 1983 to the church in Duncanville and started our Signing for the Deaf Ministry.

My wife Lynn and I were married in 1967, and have a son Jeff and a daughter Jennifer. Between their families, we have a grandson and 4 granddaughters who we enjoy spoiling. We are thankful that they are all close to us.

I retired from Vought Aircraft in 2006 and have done consulting work for various defense companies all over the country on a part-time basis.

I enjoy working with the other shepherds, and count it an honor to serve in the Lord's work here at The GracePlace.

Joe Gentry

Diann and I live in DeSoto, TX, and have been married since 1978. We have 2 grown children Sarah and Philip. Diann is a librarian at Moates Elementary in DeSoto, and enjoys reading, baking, and traveling. I work in Procurement at SBC, and enjoy reading, automobiles, and sports.

Diann is the youngest of four, and her father served as an elder for many years at the church in Fayetteville, AR. I am the third of 6 boys, and my father has preached in the Little Rock, AR area since the early 1960's.

During the early years of our marriage, I preached full-time and served in the Army Reserve, while working at SBC. Diann guided our home, raised 2 small children, and held us together. In 1984 at the break up of AT&T, my job took us to St. Louis, MO. While in St. Louis, I served as a deacon and later as an elder of the McKnight Road Church. In 1997 my job at SBC was transferred to San Antonio, TX, and a year later to Dallas, TX.

We believe God led us to Duncanville, and we count it as one of His special blessings for molding and shaping us as we travel along our faith journey. For most of my life, my favorite book of the Bible has been Proverbs, but I'm learning to really appreciate the Revelation letter.

We both love serving together with you, and we rejoice at God's amazing grace and work of the Spirit among us. I look forward to worshipping together with you this Sunday!

Tim Haynes

Since we were married in 1973, Teresa and I have been blessed to live in some great places, including Joplin, MO, West Monroe, LA, Baytown, TX, and Argentina (Buenos Aires and Rosario). We came to north Texas in 1996 with our daughters Marisa and Cailin. We chose to settle in Duncanville because of the warm welcome and support we discovered here at DCC. Today we are proud to call The GracePlace our home.

Marisa now lives in Arlington, TX with our precious granddaughter Ayiana. Cailin and her husband David live in Flower Mound, TX.

We are excited to share in the mission of this church—to glorify the Lord through sharing the love of Christ with any and all. Over the years we have enjoyed teaching Bible classes and working with youth ministry, small groups, and foreign and local missions. I particularly enjoy working with our active Hispanic ministry.

The Duncanville church is a family in the truest sense of the word. I would love to welcome you personally into our family. I look forward to meeting you when you visit our assembly!
